Lindsay and Patrick's Wedding at Fairmont Copley Plaza
“An Elegant Night of Partying”
Congratulations on your wedding! What made you decide on having your wedding with us at Fairmont?
The minute we walked into the Fairmont, we knew that it was the venue for us. It took our breath away. Lindsay looked at her dad and said, "this is where princesses get married." They booked it on the spot.
Where did you have your ceremony?
The Cathedral of the Holy Cross
Tell us about the flowers you chose. Did you go traditional or contemporary?
Traditional. We did all white calla lilies (the bride's favorite), roses, and hydrangeas. The bride had a splash of pink in her bouquet- pink silk flowers from her mother's bouquet that she had carried at her wedding 32 years prior.
Tell us about the meal you served your guests. What type and flavor cake did you have at your reception?
Our guests had a choice of filet mignon, halibut, or rosemary chicken. One of the hardest decisions in our wedding planning was narrowing down our menu- everything we had at our tasting was delectable. Our cake flavors were carrot and lemon- perfect for a warm summer night!
Where did you go on your honeymoon? Tell us about it.
St. Lucia- it was 2 weeks of sun and post-wedding relaxation!
What element(s) did you add to make the wedding uniquely 'yours'?
We had a caricaturist draw pictures of our guest during the night! Our tables at the wedding were named after restaurants that were significant to us (where we met, where we first said "I love you," where Patrick proposed, etc.) Guests were able to read about what each restaurant signified on a poster that was displayed during cocktail hour. We also had a thank you poster that guests could read displayed during cocktail hour- this was a thank you to our parents for not only their role in helping us with our wedding, but also for the love and guidance they had given us over the years. It was a special way to thank Patrick's late father, who passed shortly before the wedding. Lindsay also recorded a voice-over as a surprise for her dad- it was played at the beginning of the father-daughter dance. She thanked him for being such a great model of what a husband and father should be over the years- there wasn't a dry eye in the house! We had a "Fenway" themed after party with hamburgers and fries for our friends who wanted to continue the party :)
Another integral part of the day is the wedding dress! Tell us about what you chose to wear. Did you follow the old English saying "something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue"?
I wore a Paloma Blanca ballgown with a cathedral length veil. After trying on nearly 80 dresses, I burst into tears when I put mine on. I knew it was the one! My "something new" was my dress, "something borrowed" was my sister-in-law's hair clip from her wedding, and my "something old" and "something blue" were one in the same. My mother gave me the handkerchief that my grandmother, she, and now I carried on our wedding days. She had our names and wedding dates embroidered in blue thread on the handkerchief...with space on it left for my daughter.
What was the first song you danced to as newlyweds?
It's Your Love by Faith Hill and Tim McGraw
Now that you are married and have had time to reflect on your wedding day, what was your favorite moment?
Seeing the looks on each other's faces when we met at the end of the aisle. It was the moment we had dreamed of for so long, and it couldn't have been any better.
